The International Forest of Friendship (IFOF) will hold its 41st anniversary induction ceremony on the third weekend in June in Atchison, KS. The 2017 theme will be “Flying, Forests and the Future,” emphasizing achievements by younger people. The deadline to receive nominations is April 15, 2017. In addition to this year's focus on youth, all those will be welcome who have contributed or are contributing to all facets of aviation and aerospace, as they are every year. Click here to view the 2017 honorees.
The Friday evening cocktail party will be held on June 16 at the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum, and followed by the Induction ceremony on the morning of the 17th at the Forest. Our keynote speaker will be Mr. Barrington Irving, who in 2007 was the youngest person to pilot a plane around the world solo.
Themes we will be exploring in the coming months include: ongoing contributions to aviation and aerospace by younger people, especially in ways that link them to the green spaces on the planet, such as links to forestry and understanding the biosphere; educational initiatives that involve youth in all aspects of aviation and aerospace; and organizations that are helping to shape the future of aviation and aerospace. We welcome suggestions for other initiatives to highlight!
